Concert Guitars for the Modern Performer
Contemporary concert guitars, rooted in tradition and shaped through sound.
Elvis Pajares
is a luthier from Namora, Peru, continuing a long family tradition of guitar making. His work is deeply rooted in the legacy of the great Spanish masters—such as Antonio de Torres Jurado, Francisco Simplicio, and José Luis Romanillos—while also engaging with the possibilities opened by modern double-top construction.
Guided by attentive listening, intuition, and a constant curiosity about the acoustic potential of the instrument, Pajares seeks a balance between tradition and innovation, crafting guitars that combine tonal richness, responsiveness, and expressive depth.
In recent years, he has worked in close collaboration with guitarist and teacher Rodrigo Herrera, whose experience as a concert performer and pedagogue has contributed to the development and refinement of his most recent instruments.

LUTHIER AND MUSICIAN
The development of recent instruments has been shaped through a close collaboration between luthier Elvis Pajares and guitarist and teacher Rodrigo Herrera.
This dialogue between the workshop and the concert stage has contributed to the refinement of the Wayra and Joia models, exploring balance, responsiveness, and expressive possibilities.
Rodrigo Herrera’s experience as a concert performer and university teacher—developed across Mexico, Peru, and Italy—has brought a broad musical perspective to the process, helping to shape instruments designed for today’s performers.

THE ALL-WOOD DOUBLE-TOP
The Wayra guitar explores a modern approach to responsiveness through a double-top structure built entirely from natural materials.
Unlike many contemporary double-top designs that rely on synthetic cores such as Nomex or Kevlar, this approach maintains a fully wooden structure.
The result is a guitar that combines:
• the immediacy and projection of modern concert guitars
• the tonal richness and organic response of traditional instruments
This concept seeks a balance between innovation and the natural voice of the guitar.

THE WORKSHOP
Every instrument is built entirely by hand, following a careful process that respects both the material and the instrument’s musical intention.
Wood selection, voicing, and final finishing are guided by the ear of the luthier and by the unique character of each individual piece of wood.
To preserve this level of attention and craftsmanship, Elvis Pajares builds only around eight to ten instruments per year, allowing each guitar to develop its full musical potential.
