We present a preview of the restyling process of LA JOIA, a model that pays tribute to the golden age of Spanish guitar making, with a construction inspired by the work of master luthier Antonio de Torres.
The name “La Joia” — The Jewel — was chosen to reflect the level of craftsmanship and cultural tradition the instrument aspires to, while also echoing the Italian word Gioia, meaning joy. This new version preserves the model’s original intent while introducing structural and aesthetic adjustments aimed at achieving greater clarity in both form and sound.
In addition to Torres’s influence, this redesign draws on references from the Catalan school, particularly the work of Francisco Simplicio, whose precise and refined ornamentation characterizes a significant part of that historical period.
We share here some images from the workshop, where part of the craft and construction process behind this stage can be seen.
